MID's Funders
MID’s first work was funded by The Helen Tetlow Memorial Fund. The Helen Tetlow Memorial Fund Helen Tetlow was committed to the education and empowerment of refugees through her work as a teacher and her links with refugees in the community. Helen loved music and saw its potential in strengthening shattered identities. The Helen Tetlow Memorial Fund (HTMF) was established in 2003 and registered as a charity in 2004 (Registered Charity Number: 1102450). Working with organisations benefiting refugees and asylum seekers, the trust aims to help them tackle alienation and hardship, carry out educational activities, provide music teaching and promote the inclusion of refugees in the wider community. The HTMF initiated and brokered the MID pilot programme, and approached Refugee Action to organise the October 2005 conference. MID’s Chair and Treasurer are trustees of the HTMF. The HTMF continues to support our work. In addition MID gratefully acknowledges the very generous support of its more recent funders, without whom this work would not be possible.
